Taking chances!

Apologies for the recent lapse in posts. Busy weekend, followed by a busy week and my heads just not been in the game! A few weekends from now, I have a night out planned with some of my closest girlfriends. Can't wait and this post is going to feature what I plan to wear!

On to my title! A little while back I found a deal I couldn't pass up! $115 jeans on J.Crew for $15! Yes, $15! The risky parts. They were high waisted, I was worried about a "mom jean" look but thought "could J.Crew really sell them if they were?" And the other risk was they were talls. I took the risk, and man I am glad I did! The extra length is perfect for a nice cuffed look!

I was also on the hunt for a perfect, loose fit tee for the rest of summer and for layering for fall. Thankfully Madewell came to the rescue in their "Timeout" linen blend tee. Best of all, I only paid $17 for it, shipped!

These pictured aren't the talls like I have, but this is how mine will look minus cuffed hem. Loving the higher rise too!

Add to it my Kate Spade Gold Coast Meadow bag, and a pair of black heels and I am ready for a casual night at a local winery with the girls :)

Christmas Wishlists

Have you started one yet? I know, I know! It is only August. But Christmas will be upon us before we know it! I personally like seeing my families Christmas wishlists early, gives me time to scope out the best deals!

Here are some items on mine:

Bobi USA made Tee in Deep Grey. Love this!!

Jeffery Campbell "Crockett" booties

or

Dolce Vita "Fisher" booties

LL Bean 8" Navy "Bean" boots

Movado Watch

or

Bulova Gold Sport Watch

or

Bulova Crystal Watch

Kendra Scott "Rayne"

The list isn't extensive, but the articles on it are all pricey ones, so I am not expecting to get any of them.  But they are for sure "wishlist" items for me! I always view J.Crew, Madewell, Starbucks & Sephora gift cards as amazing options too!

What's on your Christmas "Wishlist"?

I want endless summer.......

But my mind keeps going to fall. I think because sadly, the leaves are already falling in our backyard. Depresses me because I don't love Ohio winters and fall is so short here it seems. But I do get excited  about fall clothes, so indulge me as I share an outfit that is on it's way! P.S. I am going to the beach soon so when I start preparing my clothes for that, I am sure my blog will be full of summer items again! So the items on their way to me I got at major discount! As much as I love shopping and clothing, I love a good sale more!

J.Crew Tippi Sweater

My closet had a need for some basic items like the Tippi. Plain, neutral and goes with everything. And at $17.99, one heck of a deal for a $79.50 merino sweater.

The J.Crew bootcut and toothpick cords both $17.99, down from $89.50 and $98.00. These I will try on when they arrive and more then likely sell

And lastly, these J.Crew "Color Cascade" earrings, which I love with the persimmon cords!

Maybe cool weather won't be so bad!

The Blazer

A staple item that can be worn year round. I purchased the Classic Schoolboy Blazer from J.Crew this summer. Currently it's on promo and is a great deal for a year round piece of apparel. I got mine in navy as I am a bit more of a navy and brown girl then black.

As shown in photo above from J.Crew the blazer can be dressed down for a casual summer evening. Another cute summer look is to pair this with a dress and some sandals.

Or even with jeans for a very casual, but nice look for perhaps a cooler night.

As the year turns to fall, the vest can be worn with boots and a scarf or just boots and a long sleeve top.

The blazer is something I could see spending a bit more on to get good quality since it's such a classic staple item. I paid about $60 for mine (originally $178) and I think they are currently on sale for $79 but since J.Crew does extra promos off sale items fairly often, it may go lower. They also have an updated version of this blazer as well as various colors and fabrics. They also have one with slightly puffed sleeves which is adorable, but I chose the most basic in a basic, solid color so I could get the most use out of it.

A little splash of color for summer days and nights

I love a basic outfit with some fun color added in the summer. Usually I add color via jewelry. However one look I am itching to try is some colorful and interesting shoes. I have the romper pictured below in paisley, but I am loving the black too! This is currently on sale so it would be an excellent time to pick it up. You may be like me and feel like there is no way you could pull off a romper, but this year I realized it is easier then I thought to find one that fits well and looks stylish.

Then the shoes. I love these shoes from Nordstrom. Now I may be inclined to hunt down a cheaper pair, but that is just how I am with items that I don't think I will wear all the time. And since these shoes are colorful and defiantly a different piece, I don't think I would wear them more then a handful of times per season, but they sure are lovely!

As far as jewelry, I would personally keep it simple, a pair of stud earrings and because it is pretty much my dream necklace, thus Kendra Scott Rayne long necklace (I pretty much adore all the colors it comes I'm!)

I don't own any Kendra Scott yet, but it's on my mental wish list for sure!

Have a lovely weekend - Caroline

It all started.........

Back in the days of all things madras plaid and critter pants. My love for J.Crew that is. I may or may not have owned quite a few polo's with critters on the color or on the chest. Thankfully some of those styles have faded away and more current ones have emerged, both with them and with me.

                                                         Rather cute for "Critter Shorts"

                                                         And some rather vintage Madras

You may ask "how is J.Crew something you can afford, when a lot of their price points are a little high". Well, I can give you some secrets. First, I can't tell you the last time I have purchased something full price. I either wait till a stellar coupon code exists, or shop their sales. Normally though, I shop sales & use coupon codes. And seldom purchase from their new roll-outs. With the way I shop J.Crew, I do run the risk of them selling out before I can order my size, but I figure I never "Need" anything so badly I can't take that chance. I will add that if an item sells out online, don't totally give up on it. Keep checking back, often items pop back up online. I really wanted some lightweight chambray summer shorts they had, but they kept being sold out in my size. I finally emailed one of their stylists and she was able to locate a pair in my size. Most of the time I get my J.Crew items for Target prices. Figure you can't go wrong with that! Most of the time their Brick & Mortar stores offer additional % off on sales. Coupon codes are frequently on their website. Sometimes they offer free shipping days. I just wait till all the stars align and purchase then!

One big reason I love J.Crew besides the awesome style of their clothes, is the quality. And if I have ever had items where the quality hasn't been up to par, they have been excellent about replacing the items. Customer service is so awesome with them! I once spoke to their customer service at 10:30PM to get a swim suit top exchanged before they sold out in my size!

Just to give you an idea of some deals I will post a few options below.

Broken-in Boyfriend Jean
Originally $125.00 Sale $41.99

Linen Baseball Tee
Originally $39.50 Sale $17.99

Canvas Espadrilles
Originally $50.00 Sale $17.99

Crystal Decadence Necklace
Originally $58.00 Sale $26.99

And there you have it! A full J.Crew outfit for around $110.00 shipped! Full retail price would have been $272.50. So more then half off if you just have a little patience and don't buy the second the items come out. Now would be an ideal time to buy these items, wear a little the rest of the summer but be able to have pretty much new for next spring/summer season.
